OCR Chicks – March

It’s March, and thus time to shine the light on another two amazing women. Like many OCR Chicks, they won’t bat an eye at throwing a wreck bag on their back and running up a steep hill, take a few scrapes from barbed wire because “it will heal later”, or when they’re drenched in sweat; pushing a little harder instead of taking a break because that’s OCR. It takes a lot of grit, and hard work to be an OCR chick. Let’s celebrate them right now.

Janet Barry

Janet Barry –  Missed making the Reebok Spartan Pro team this year but has a number of sponsors supporting her going into this 2017 season. AC 11 Optigenex, Greenapple Sports and Wellness, Kinetic Heights, Obstacle Guard, OralIV, Beet Performer.

1. What does the orc chick want MOST in a man?

A man who is supportive of what I do. Training is intense and the hours can be long it is a huge part of my life. I need someone who understands and supports that as well as someone who will be there to support me on race weekends! Having someone who has the same morals, drive, and goals to be the best (doesn’t have to be physical) is essential in my partner. I want to be a team!

2. What is the perfect night before the race? Same questions after the race?

Night before. Light massage, legs up and watching a movie, a larger meal (small breakfast race morning). Staying relaxed and keeping positive thoughts about the race the next day is key!

3. You didn’t do as well or place where you wanted, what does the man say to make you feel better?

I want him waiting for me at the finish line and to hug and kiss me no matter how muddy and bloody I am! No matter what my place I always give it 100% and that love and support is needed after all that pain and suffering I go through (which we all love :))!

4. He doesn’t surprise you with flowers and chocolates; he surprises you with what?

Any surprise is always special! When a man does something just to do it, I love it. It’s the small thoughtful things that really touch me the most. If you hear me comment one time that I was freezing after my race, and you surprise me with a post-race blanket you will have my heart 🙂 Show me you are paying attention to my needs and really care.

On the flip side ..Anything that gets my adrenaline going followed by something more relaxing. Take me white water kayaking and then let’s get dressed up and go out for a nice dinner and dancing! I like to try new things!

5. You go out to train together but your dragging ass and not feeling it today, what does he do to make you feel better?

If I am dragging ass, I most likely need an off day, and I am overtraining so I would need him to tell me to take it easy or take a day off! Since I love training so much I would need him to then distract me with something else enjoyable! 🙂 wink wink ha-ha

6. How does a guy approach a chick at a race? What does he say?

I worked my ass off to get to where I am. I have given up the “normal” day to day work and go out and party on weekends for a much bigger goal and a very different lifestyle. Your typical pick-up lines you may use on other girls will NOT work on me! Be genuine, be confident, and don’t compliment my abs or my butt. …Instead, ask me how I feel after the brutal race and offer me your race beer 🙂 Now that would show me you really care! Ha-ha!

Brooke Rosalie Van Paris

1.       What does the OCR chick want MOST in a man?

Loyalty and Honesty

2. What is the perfect night before the race? Same questions after the race?

A perfect night is Spaghetti and meat sauce and a slice of CAKE!

Post- Race- no touching and let me sleep. Lol! I will be bruised, sore and scraped up I’m sure!! OUCHIE

3. You didn’t do as well or place where you wanted, what does the man say to make you feel better?  Tell me the competition isn’t against the other racers. It’s against myself. If I did my best, then that’s the best I can do!

4. He doesn’t surprise you with flowers and chocolates; he surprises you with what?

Surprise me with donuts

5. You go out to train together but your dragging ass and not feeling it today, what does he do to make you feel better?

Ask me what muscle is the “rest” muscle….. and then ask what day you train that one? AKA there is no such thing as a rest muscle, so no time to be slacking! When you rest, your competition isn’t. They are getting better; you should too.

6. How does a guy approach a chick at a race? What does he say?

How to approach a chick at a race- don’t….. Beat her and wait for her at the finish line with donuts. BOOOM

So there you go gentlemen, YOUR WELCOME ha-ha. You don’t just buy an OCR chick roses you have to LITERALLY out work them to impress them. So what are you waiting for? Get off your phone and GET IT!
