Human Hamster Wheel

A perpetual monkey bar machine available in Mudder Village at all Tough Mudder events, Human Hamster Wheel gives participants and spectators alike the chance to test how long they can last on a never-ending slew of monkey bars. For each wheel rotation, Mudders are given one point. Throughout each event, a running scoreboard is kept, and the day’s winner, as well as the global winner at the end of the season, gets sweet prizes.

Suggested Training

Climb across Funky Monkey. Return to the beginning. Climb across again. Repeat ad nauseam.

Pull-Ups – Complete 10 reps. Rest 2 minutes. Repeat 3 times. Alternative- Assisted pull-ups: Using a partner or a set of resistance bands (just thick enough to achieve the prescribed reps) secured around your bar and locked under foot, perform pull-ups as described above.

Tough Mudder Tips

There’s two ways to climb this one – forward or backward. It may not seem instinctive, but reaching behind you for the next rung is often the best way to go the distance. Take things slow at the beginning, determine which method you’re most comfortable with, and just keep climbing.
