Crawling over flat land with barbed wire overhead? Been there. Done that. KoM 2.0 requires Mudders to transverse a series of elevation changes, all while hugging the mud-coated ground below and avoiding the barbed wire above. Keeping your head down while sliding into deep trenches and crawling over hay bales ain’t as easy as it sounds.
Suggested Training
Mental:
Attempt to leave the office early. Quietly lower yourself into a crawling position behind your desk. Quickly and silently, navigate under and around any impediments in your office to reach the door undetected.
Physical:
Plank Series – Beginning on elbows, alternating lifting legs and arms, one at a time, for 30 seconds each. After each set of 4, rest for 30 seconds. Repeat 3 times.
Mountain Climbers – Perform 50 reps total. Break for 3 minutes. Perform 3 rounds.
Bear Crawls – Repeat 3 times.
Tough Mudder Tips
Use your arms to pull yourself forward through the slop. Keep your back down and your core strong. When you encounter a ditch – keep your face out of the mud. When you hit a bale of hay, keep your butt down. Nothing says pain-in-the-ass like some ill-placed barbed wire.
